Why are you running for this office?
I am a library person; it's my full time job. I value the role libraries play in communities and want to invest my professional expertise in our town library.
What is the most pressing local issue facing your community and how would you solve it (within the capacity of the office for which you are running)?
Our library needs to physically expand to meet the need of our community. We are limited in our capacity by our environs. It's important that we endeavor to expand our capacity to deliver resources and services to our community.
With the state's ongoing budget crisis looming over the election, what are your plans for your community's budget? Is there anything you can do make your town less dependent on revenue from the state?
I suspect that this will be a challenge to be sure. State budgets are tight and it will be imperative that we spend our budget wisely and efficiently. That said, we must also be forward thinking about the difference between and expense and an investment.
The legislature has been debating various ideas to allow towns to raise revenue locally through something other than property taxes. If you could ease your residents' property tax burden by adding another method of taxation, is there anything you might consider for your town?
This is not applicable to the office for which I am running.
Are you in favor of regionalizing more services in conjunction with other nearby communities? If so, which ones?
We already enjoying a strong collaborative relationship with our neighboring communities with regard to library services.
Should your school district get the same amount of education funding from the state if your district's enrollment is dropping?
N/A
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I suspect most people don't know that in addition to be the Pomfret School Library Director, I've appeared in several theatrical productions at the Bradley Playhouse in Putnam and in summer theater at the Golden Lamb Buttery in Brooklyn.
